I am thrilled to announce a significant milestone in my career and a first for Ireland: I have successfully passed the European Board of Aligners Orthodontics membership exam, making me the only orthodontist in Ireland to hold this prestigious qualification.
The European Board of Aligner Orthodontics (EBAO) is renowned for setting the gold standard in aligner-based orthodontic treatments. This esteemed entity is dedicated to ensuring that orthodontists who bear their certification are equipped not only with the latest knowledge but also demonstrate the highest prowess in managing complex orthodontic cases using aligner technology. Achieving membership involves a rigorous assessment process that underscores an orthodontist’s capability to provide top-tier treatment outcomes.
The path to this achievement was both challenging and enriching. The EBAO required me to submit detailed records of various orthodontic cases I had managed. These cases encompassed a range of orthodontic issues, all featuring significant complexity and requiring intricate treatment strategies. Moreover, I had to provide evidence of successful outcomes through 1-year retention records, proving the durability and effectiveness of the treatments I administered.
Each case was meticulously reviewed by a committee of Europe’s finest aligner orthodontists. This peer review by such esteemed colleagues ensured that only those displaying the utmost precision in their treatment plans and execution could be certified. The scrutiny placed on the quality of outcomes and the adherence to best practices in aligner orthodontics made this not just an examination but a profound learning experience.
Setting a goal to become a diplomate of the EBAO was a decision I made five years ago. It was driven by my commitment to excellence in my field and my desire to provide my patients with the best possible care using the latest advancements in orthodontic technology. Today, as I reflect on this journey, I am filled with pride and gratitude. Achieving this certification is not only a personal triumph but also an assurance to my patients that they are receiving care at the highest standard.
