Advanced Braces, Clear Aligners, Lingual Braces and Skeletal Expansion for Children, Teenagers and Adults

I am a Specialist Orthodontist in Dublin providing orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers, and adults across Dublin, North Dublin, and throughout Ireland.

Over the years, I have treated thousands of patients, ranging from straightforward alignment cases to some of the most complex orthodontic problems. Regardless of complexity, my approach remains the same: careful diagnosis, precise planning, and attention to detail at every stage.

Only three Irish orthodontists have achieved Diplomate status of the European Board of Orthodontics (EBO). I am also the only orthodontist in Ireland to hold Diplomate status of both the European Board of Orthodontics (EBO) and the European Board of Aligner Orthodontics (EBAO).

In addition, I am the only orthodontist in Ireland to hold Titular Membership of the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics (ESLO) and Active Membership of the World Society of Lingual Orthodontics (WSLO). I am also Ireland’s leading provider of WIN lingual braces and one of the largest users of the system in Europe.

Dentists and orthodontists throughout Ireland regularly refer patients for complex orthodontic treatment, lingual orthodontics, skeletal expansion (MARPE/DOME/SARPE/MASPE), multidisciplinary care, and orthodontic preparation for jaw surgery.

For anyone looking for a Specialist Orthodontist in Dublin, the most important step is a comprehensive assessment. This allows an accurate diagnosis and a clear discussion of the treatment options available.

My Clinical Philosophy

I treat people, not teeth.

Simple cases should be treated efficiently. Complex cases should be treated properly.

Orthodontics is often associated with straightening teeth and improving smiles. In reality, it is a specialist branch of dentistry concerned with the growth, development, and function of the entire craniofacial complex, including the teeth, jaws, face, and bite.

A beautiful smile is important, but it is only one part of successful treatment. Understanding the patient, their concerns, their goals, and the biological factors influencing their condition is equally important.

The scope of orthodontics extends beyond dental alignment alone. In selected cases, orthodontic treatment may contribute to the management of jaw discrepancies, impacted teeth, sleep-disordered breathing, airway-related concerns, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

Orthodontics is rarely a standalone solution for these problems. However, it can play an important role within a multidisciplinary team that may include ENT surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, sleep physicians, paediatricians, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals.

This broader perspective is particularly important in children. Early intervention can influence not only dental development but also facial growth and function. In adults, carefully planned orthodontic treatment can help create a more stable, functional, and balanced dentofacial environment.

Every patient is different. Some seek treatment to improve their smile. Others want to improve their bite. Some present with functional concerns that affect their quality of life and wellbeing.

Whatever the reason for attending, my commitment remains the same: accurate diagnosis, honest advice, and the highest standard of evidence-based orthodontic care.

The ultimate goal is healthy, functional, stable, and natural-looking results that stand the test of time.

Who I Treat

As a Specialist Orthodontist in Dublin, I provide evidence-based orthodontic treatment for:

• Children requiring early orthodontic assessment, including crossbites, underbites, jaw development concerns, and skeletal discrepancies

• Teenagers requiring comprehensive orthodontic treatment during growth and development

• Adults seeking discreet orthodontic treatment, including clear aligners and lingual braces

• Patients with complex orthodontic needs, previous orthodontic treatment, impacted teeth, multidisciplinary care requirements, or jaw surgery planning

Many of my patients travel from across Ireland specifically for lingual orthodontics, skeletal expansion, and complex orthodontic treatment. Equally, many attend for routine orthodontic care such as crowding, spacing, protruding teeth, or bite correction.

I also frequently treat multiple members of the same family, including parents and children, providing continuity of care over many years.

Credentials and Professional Recognition

I completed specialist orthodontic training through the Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics (DClinDent) programme at University College Cork after starting my postgraduate orthodontic teducation in the United Kingdom.

I subsequently completed advanced training and a Master’s Degree in Lingual Orthodontics at the University of Padova under the mentorship of Professor Dirk Wiechmann, the developer of the WIN and Incognito lingual appliance systems.

My professional qualifications include Membership and Fellowship examinations from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Ireland, England, and Scotland.

Professional distinctions include:

• Diplomate, European Board of Orthodontics (EBO)

• Diplomate, European Board of Aligner Orthodontics (EBAO)

• Titular Member, European Society of Lingual Orthodontics (ESLO)
