I am delighted to share that I have recently achieved the Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDS) from both the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG).
Receiving these Fellowships marks another important milestone in my professional career. More importantly, they reflect my commitment to lifelong learning and delivering the highest standard of orthodontic care.
The Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDS) is one of the highest postgraduate distinctions awarded by the Royal Colleges. The Colleges award this Fellowship to dentists who demonstrate advanced specialist knowledge, clinical excellence and an ongoing commitment to professional development.
The Fellowship also recognises sustained contributions to specialist dental practice. Across the UK and Ireland, clinicians regard the FDS as a prestigious professional distinction. It reflects the knowledge, experience and professional standards expected of consultant and senior specialist clinicians.
For patients, the FDS represents far more than additional letters after a clinician’s name. It demonstrates a commitment to maintaining high standards, embracing lifelong learning and providing evidence-based care throughout a professional career.
These Fellowships complement my existing qualifications, including:
I am currently the only orthodontist in Ireland to hold recognised European distinctions across the three principal areas of modern orthodontics: comprehensive orthodontics, clear aligner orthodontics and lingual orthodontics.
Together, these qualifications reflect my commitment to every aspect of modern orthodontic care.
Orthodontics continues to evolve. New research, digital technology and treatment techniques regularly improve the way we diagnose and treat our patients.
I believe that learning never stops. Every course, examination and professional qualification helps me refine my knowledge and improve the care I provide. I carefully evaluate new evidence before introducing it into my clinical practice. When new technologies genuinely benefit my patients, I incorporate them into my treatment planning.
Although professional qualifications are important, they are only one part of providing excellent patient care. My priority has always been to deliver personalised, evidence-based orthodontic treatment that meets each patient’s individual needs.
Whether I am treating a child with a developing bite, an adult seeking clear aligners or lingual braces, or a complex multidisciplinary case involving skeletal expansion or orthognathic surgery, my goal remains the same. I aim to achieve healthy, functional and stable long-term results while providing an excellent patient experience.
Finally, I would like to thank my patients, referring dentists and professional colleagues for their continued trust and support. Their confidence in me motivates me to continue learning, developing and striving for the highest standards of specialist orthodontic care.
Back to BlogI recommend and prescribe orthodontic treatments to my patients as if they were my own family and I value meaningful relationships based on communication, confidence and trust.
